OTHER VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Litter Cleanup

A key element of habitat restoration is ensuring that the streams and riparian areas are clear of litter before conducting any in-stream projects. Litter clean-up is an excellent opportunity to connect with your community and local watershed, and promotes a healthy environment for everyone to enjoy. This work is important for species-at-risk such as the endangered Redside Dace, which require cold, clean streams.

Invasive Species Control

Invasive plant species are of major concern throughout the Greater Toronto Area. Invasive species crowd out native plants and create monocultures. By removing invasive species from riparian zones and planting native trees and shrubs, these habitats will filter water and reduce erosion, while also providing habitat for wildlife.

There are no invasive species removalcontrol events planned at this time. If you are interested in receiving updates on volunteer events as soon as they become available, please sign up for our mailing list.
